Hold your Horses

Pics from Avery's last two Hippotherapy sessions with Ms Cynthia

While we had several volunteers, Ms Susan (leading the horse in the green shirt) was Avery's favorite. She would arrive 30 minutes early for the session just so she could round up Sugar because she knew how much Avery loved him (Sugar was not easy to round up). While Avery initially LOVED Stormy, she grew quite fond of Sugar once she moved up to riding him. This session was the last time she rode Sugar :o(

Mmm, Broccoli

This post is merely to provide proof down the road when our daughter decides to proclaim she doesn't like broccoli. I had tried broccoli a few times at home and Avery had nothing to do with it. I even tried the good  ol' smothered in cheese trick...nope. Recently at a dinner out, Tripp ordered a side of broccoli with his steak. When it came to the table, Avery eyed it like it was a slice of cake! She asked Tripp for a bite and ended up eating his whole plate of broccoli! Who is this child?
(For further proof, I also video taped this broccoli feast with her stating "Mmm, I love broccoli!")

Success!

We have been reluctant to say it outload, but.....we have SUCCESS!!! I believe we are officially potty-trained!!!! Avery did so well while we were in Hilton Head last month, and we feared it would come to a screeching halt when we returned home. So, how did we reach success? Bribery....good old fashioned bribery. What did we bribe her with? The one thing that Avery lives for.....

WeeSchool End-of-the-Year Party

One thing about having your child in two different preschools.....double the parties!  Avery's end-of-the-year program on Tuesday with the special needs school was followed up the next day with her last day of school party at our church WeeSchool. No awards this time. Just another Certification of Completion, games and lots of sugary snacks.
It's hard to believe Avery has her first year of "school" under her belt already and we couldn't be more happy with how well she did and how far she has come! She finished out the year with an impressive Progress Report and a love for her teachers and new class friends. She keeps asking me when we are going back to see Ms Karolyn and Ms Marilyn. She hasn't quite gotten the concept of 'summer' yet  :o)

Avery and Ms Karolyn (and, of course, the classroom baby doll made the pic) - LOVE this pic!

Here is a picture of Avery's first day back in August with her initial lead teacher, Ms Jessica. Look how much Avery changed over the school year!

Graduation!

Even though Avery only spent 2 months in her special needs preschool class, she jumped right in like she had been there all year! The teachers knew her so well after such a short time. At their end-of-the-year awards program, the kids sang some of the songs they learned this year and the teachers handed out an award to each child along with their Certification of Completion. Awards included things like 'Best Smile', 'Best Hugs' and 'Most Improved'. What award was Avery awarded?

I am proud to announce our......'Little Mommy of the Year'

Avery receiving her award from Ms Patsy (teacher) and Ms Monica (Aid)

Like I said, the teachers knew her so well. For those who don't know, Avery is borderline obsessed with her baby dolls.  She feeds them, changes them, puts them down for naps, puts them in time-out, takes them to the park....she truly is a 'Little Mommy'.
