Visit with Santa 2010

Well, it looks like I've fallen quite behind on the picture front! With my last post being in mid October, I've missed a month! Here are some pics of Avery's visit to see Santa this year....not a single tear this year....but no smiles either. I finally had to tell Avery to just look at Santa so we could get some pics without the serious scorn on her face. She was excited to tell him that she wanted a "Mommy Baby" this year. When he asked if that's all she wanted. she said 'yes, just a Mommy Baby'. Easy enough!

Hilton Head 2010 - part 1

Okay, okay. I know I promised these pics long ago, but I just took way too many this year. I could just slap them on here with no editing, but that's not how I roll. So, I'll just have to post them in stages.
I'll start with some father-daughter pics from this year's Garvin-family beach trip. Some of my favorite pictures to take are of my two favorite people. I just love pics of Tripp and Avery together....they make my heart smile! You can just see the love....

School Portrait 2010

It's already that time of year! School picture day. The second week in September, Avery's special needs school had picture day. Now-a days they have you order the picture before they are ever even taken! So you fork over the money and cross your fingers for a decent pic. Believe it or not, getting Avery to smile for the camera is not an easy task.....this photographer has my vote for photographer of the year!

New 'Little Miracle'!!!!!!

We have been working on this in therapy for a year and she is finally able to pedal!!!! She still needs a tiny push to help her initially get going, but we are so excited to see her pedal around!!!  I love seeing all her hard work pay off!!!!

Aquatic Therapy

Avery is thoroughly enjoying her new aquatic therapy! She loves the therapist, Ms Lindsy and is completely worn out after each session.  Here are some pics from a recent session.

Twenty & Counting

Just for giggles, we decided to line up all of Avery's babydolls for a group picture. Twenty babydolls and counting! She has set names for about 11 of them, but regularly plays with all of them.

Her three favorites that go most places with us and take turns sleeping in her bed, are the three closest to her....'New Baby' (the blonde under her chin), 'Forla' (the brunette beside her) and her all time favorite in her lap, 'Effa'. Effa was given to Avery by Uncle Bill & Aunt Lynn on her second Christmas and she instantly fell in love with her.

First Day of School 2010

Today was Avery's first day of 3 year old preschool at the Ralph Bunche special needs school. She was more than excited to see Ms Patsy and the new classroom baby dolls again. 

Did I mention how excited she was? If I didn't, this picture says it all!

Better Late Than Never!

March was a little crazy in the Garvin house.  Avery was turning the big THREE on March 16th, but Daddy was having major back surgery on March 15th. Needless to say, I'm ashamed to say we are just now getting around to celebrating that big 3rd birthday. We did take her to Build A Bear for her birthday a couple days before her birthday.....even in all his pain, Daddy was there - and just as excited as Avery!
She spent her b-day week with Gram and Grandaddy who celebrated with her so it's not like we just skipped it all together....let's just say we stretched it out to make it last longer :o)
So, 4 months later, we finally got around to truly celebrating...which in Avery terms means....cake!

We started at her favorite restaurant - "Da Buffawo" or in non-Avery terms Bugaboo Creek (they have a talking Buffalo as well as other moving animals on the walls). After an early dinner.....cake and presents!!!

...and a baby carrier for her new baby she roped Daddy into buying her at the store. Meet the newest baby to her collection - Forla (four-lah) Not sure where she gets these names! Don't most little girls stick with the basics like Susie, Molly and Sally? I love her originality!

We had 3 runners and 25 walkers on Avery's Advocates this year!!! Runners: Mommy finished #113, our friend Kelley finished #114 and Katey finished #64 out of 154. Thank you to all of you who joined us so early in the morning and to those that couldn't make it, but were phantom runners! We were truly humbled at how many of our friends and family came out to join Avery's Advocates 2010!
